Materials

All consumption affects the environment. By increasing the use of recycled or other sustainable materials, we aim to lower our impact. As of SS18 we have sad no to conventional cotton and are only using Organic and Recycled Cotton.

From FW18 all our textile products will contain a minimum of 50% sustainable materials and we are increasing the amount of sustainable materials year by year. All sustainable materials used for our products are certified according to global standards.

Organic Cotton

Being a jeanswear brand, cotton is among our most frequently used materials. We are aware of the negative impact that conventionally grown cotton has on humans and the environment. We’re happy to be able to offer all our denim in organic cotton, a more sustainable alternative.

All our organic cotton has been independently certified by accredited entities - such as Control Union - according to GOTS or OCS standards.

Organic cotton demands less water, it´s grown without using chemical pesticides and fertilizers and it does not contain GMO. According to Textile Exchange choosing organic cotton has the potential of using 71% less water, 62% less energy and could lower the climate impact by 46% when compared to using traditional cotton.

Recycled Polyester

Polyester is an artificial fiber which is used widely around the world, it’s unsustainable since it is made from crude oil. Recycled Polyester is a sustainable option to conventional polyester. With Recycled Polyester we can put oil-based waste - such as PET plastic bottles - to good use, while reducing the use of virgin material.

Recycled Cotton

Recycled Cotton made from Post-Consumer Waste (PCW) is made by worn out cotton products that get brand new life through recycling. Quite literally: “trash turned into new products”. Warn out garments and textiles are turned into new fibers. These fibers are mixed with organic cotton and other fibers and spun into new yarn. The Yarn is then woven into a fabric that’s used for new textiles. Using Recycled Cotton has two major benefits: it reduces the need for extracting virgin resources and reduces waste to landfills. Major reductions are in both water and climate impact (CO2) and energy use.

Recycled cotton allows:

o Major reductions in both water and climate impact (CO2) and energy use.
o Water reduction is more than 75% compared to virgin cotton fiber.
o Climate impact reduction is more than 80% compared to virgin cotton fiber.
o Energy reduction is more than 60% compared to virgin cotton fiber.

The Recycled Cotton is certified by an independent third party in accordance with the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) or Recycled Claim Standard (RCS).
