Cheap Art Party
We recently launched our first underwear collection. The release was celebrated with shindigs in Stockholm and Copenhagen, and an installation by Antwerp artist Frederik Heyman. The installation was unveiled in conjunction with the parties. Now parts of the instalation is on display in the Cheap Monday Store in Copenhagen.
Frederik Heyman works in a variety of techniques, with a focus on photography, installations, video and drawing. In addition to art projects, he regularly works with international fashion magazines and designers, particularly within the Belgian fashion scene.
For Cheap Monday Frederik Heyman has created a massive visual installation that plays with the perception of gravity. The installation consists of a central abstract work that is connected to smaller versions of it. The material includes Cheap Monday underwear, gold plexiglass, transparent, stretchy nylon, projections and a stroboscope. See clip from the making of the installation above.
The Stockholm party took place at the former National Bacteriological Laboratory in Solna. The business was shut down in 1993, and since then the Gunnar Asplund designed building has been for the most part abandoned. View picutures from the Stockholm party below. In Copenhagen the party was held at Nikolaj Kunsthal, not far from the Cheap Monday Store on Kronprinsensgade.
